Exciting Developments at UTHealth – Houston!
UTHealth Houston has commenced construction on a cutting-edge $299 million public health school in the Texas Medical Center’s Helix Park. The 10-story, 350,000-square-foot facility will facilitate translational research and student education to address future public health challenges more effectively. This project, set to open for the 2026 fall semester, reflects UTHealth’s commitment to pioneering radical solutions for public health issues. In addition to the school’s sustainable features, such as rainwater harvesting and abundant natural light, the building will also house research laboratories, a teaching kitchen for dietetic interns, and collaborative spaces.
Furthermore, UTHealth recently required a watertight seal to install pipes through a wall. Working with the installing contractor, HCL, the wholesaler, Winston Water Cooler, sought assistance from Hugh M. Cunningham’s Plumbing Mechanical Group. Account Manager Alec Cooper recommended using Link-Seal, a modular sealing system for creating a perfect permanent hydrostatic seal for any cylindrical object passing through walls, floors, and ceilings.
The installation of Link-Seal was successful and will provide long-lasting protection against the entry of water, soil, and backfill material. This successful installation exemplifies our dedication to excellence and the collaborative spirit that drives our projects. The seamless integration of Link-Seal has satisfied all involved parties, ensuring the integrity and longevity of our infrastructure.
